YOD Gallery is pleased to present "Reframing," an exhibition of six ceramic artists.

 

While there are many artists who use ceramics as a material for expression, there are those who create works that are different from the unique atmosphere of ceramic three-dimensional works.

Rather than aiming for new possibilities of materials or challenging the characteristics of materials, they pursue expressions that give new impressions while using conventional materials, tools, and techniques. Rather than expanding the possibilities of their materials, they reinterpret ceramics from the perspective of their own times and environments, which I believe is what makes their works so appealing.

 

Based on the theme of the artists' interpretations, Kunihiro Akinaga, Kouzo Takeuchi, and Toshiya Masuda have nominated one artist each to participate in this exhibition. Through the ceramic works created by the six artists, this exhibition will provide an opportunity to appreciate the range of expression, possibilities, and new charms of ceramic art.
